Wrapping up Book 4, Led to Reason, brought a sense of finality — for a few moments. The Muse, whom I call “M,” promptly insisted that I close the loop with a “back-story.” How did this all come about? What happened during M’s tours in Afghanistan? Of course, he had to tell me. I was in transition from one homestead to another — from choppy waters to “our Idaho” (literally), and the crescendo of the manuscript was written days before something just like said crescendo happened in real time. I couldn’t help but put a fourth-wall break comment in there. This is all to say that writing “82 Tons of Freedom” ran from 2020 to 2022 in a temporary hotel room while we moved to a new state. The manuscript is currently being edited by a dear retired-Navy friend. The fifth book will remain on hard copy, however. The Muse gives me a “hard no” when I consider a Kindle platform. I’ll probably self-print a small run at 48 Hour Books or some such; but closing the loop was a driving motivation that only let up when I touched the fragile ends of the narrative together in a large helo over the Pacific, headed due South. Curious? Email me.
